The Housing Authority has several housing opportunities for seniors. Location, income limits and rent amounts are based on the specific program requirements, unit and other specifications.
- Senior housing that is owned and/or managed by the Housing Authority include: Subsidized Senior Housing and Non-Subsidized Senior Housing. Each program maintains a separate waiting list. See below for more information.
- Garden Court on De La Vina and The Gardens on Hope are service-enhanced, independent-living senior housing offering affordable rents to income eligible seniors 62 years and older. Services include 3 meals a day, 24 hour staffing, housekeeping, transportation, resident activities, and all utilities included. Garden Court and The Gardens on Hope maintain a separate waiting list for applications.

Apply Here. - Grace Village Apartments, is a Low Income Housing Tax Credit senior development with 58 one-bedroom apartments on upper State St. 35 units will be subsidized through the Section 8 Project-based Voucher program. Grace Village is managed by CARING Housing Ministries, and maintains the waiting list. More Information.
Subsidized Senior Housing
Federally subsidized low-income rental program in senior designated properties operated by the Housing Authority. Eligible households are offered a unit with Section 8 Project-Based Voucher subsidy attached to a specific unit within properties operated by the Housing Authority. Eligible applicants are offered a specific unit when their name comes up on the Housing Choice Voucher project-based waiting list. Participants pay a portion of their income toward rent which is based upon 30% of the household’s adjusted annual income. Eligible applicants must be at least 62 years old. All units are located within the City of Santa Barbara and unit size is one bedroom.
Non-Subsidized Senior Housing
Non-Subsidized rental units in senior designated properties owned and/or operated by the City Housing Authority. Eligible applicants must be at least 62 years old. Rent amounts vary depending on the property/unit offered and is also based upon household income. Units are one bedroom units and occupancy is limited to 2 persons households and some properties may have vehicle restrictions.
Seniors may also apply for any of our other housing programs such as Workforce Housing or Supportive Housing.
