Poodle Radio on the State of the Homeless and the Fascinations of Wine Writing
March 8, 2011
Thursday, March 10, 2011
This week on Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall talks first to Isabelle Walker, who writes about homelessness issues for the Indy, and Nick St. Oegger, who writes and takes photographs for homelessinsb.org. They report on Common Ground Santa Barbara’s Registry Week, a large-scale operation meant to count and gauge the well-being of Santa Barbara County’s homeless population as a prelude to moving 100,000 of them into houses. Then, Indy wine writers Chelsey Steinman and Laura Sanchez drop by to talk about the unexpected tastes, smells, and personalities they’ve been covering in advance of the paper’s 2011 wine issue.
This week’s musical selections, organized as always by Pop Culture Editor Aly Comingore, include tracks from Castanets, Dolorean, Foster the People, and Mike Watt, all of whom are scheduled to play S.B. soon. You can tune into Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
