The Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara’s affiliate non-profit, 2nd Story Associates, is a Public Benefit Corporation established in August, 2007. This organization was born out of recognition of a growing unmet need to have sufficient affordable housing and expanded resident service programs for Low-Income families, seniors and disabled individuals (those earning 80% of Area Median Income and below) in Santa Barbara County.

2nd Story Associates intends to encourage resident service programs that will promote a holistic service approach to family needs by humanizing critical family issues and introducing educational opportunities for children, economic advancement for adults and overall self-sufficiency for entire families.
 
Our initial objective is to raise the funding necessary to provide resident services for our target population, including improving existing community programs and implementing new needed programs.
Outlined below are the initial programs that we will focus on in collaboration with other community partners:

  2. Financial Literacy Workshops
  3. Youth Activity Programs
  4. Child Care Assistance
  5. Rental Mediation Programs
  6. Case Management and Counseling Services
