SECTION 8

A rent subsidy program that assists eligible low-income persons and their families in obtaining affordable, decent, and safe housing by paying a portion of their rent. Eligible applicants locate a unit in the private rental market. Rent must be within the current allowed Payment Standards.

WORKFORCE

The Housing Authority’s innovative Workforce Housing Program is designed to assist members of our workforce and of our community who earn up to 120% of the area median income for Santa Barbara. The program serves those who are increasingly caught in the gap between skyrocketing rents and ineligibility for other assistance.

SENIOR HOUSING

The Housing Authority has many housing opportunities for seniors.  In addition to the specifically designed senior only housing, seniors may also apply for any of our other housing programs including Public Housing and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

A key HACSB resident services program. Residents set specific goals such as starting a business or buying a home. Participants may also qualify for a special savings plan.

The Supportive Services program provides case management and  a wide variety of services to participants including counseling, medical treatment/assistance, and referrals for day-to-day living needs.

GRAD & YOUTH

HACSB offers two wonderful centers for academic, arts and other enrichment programs including computer labs, and homework tutoring and clubs. Each center is located on-site at one of our eastside and westside apartment complexes and are open to all families who participate in Housing Authority programs.

The Housing Authority is dedicated to assisting low income seniors to live independently in their homes for as long as possible.
