Santa Barbara County residents are invited to attend the fifth annual Housing Santa Barbara Day 2022, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at De La Guerra Plaza. The free event is dedicated to connecting community members with local affordable housing nonprofit agencies and service providers.
The event, sponsored by 2nd Story Associates, wil include housing workshops, tenant and landlord resources, accessory dwelling unit (ADU) resources, workforce housing information, music and entertainment, local food vendors, and activities for families.
On the music lineup are The Rob Moreno Quartet, 10 a.m.-noon, and Jineanne Coderre Duo, noon-2 p.m.
More than 30 community agencies and service providers will be featured including
– Santa Barbara Community Housing Corp.
– Good Samaritan Shelters
– Tri-Counties Regional Center
– Independent Living Resource Center
– Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara
– Habitat For Humanity
Santa Barbara Mayor Randy Rowse, and county supervisors Das Williams, Gregg Hart, Joan Hartmann, Bob Nelson and Steve Lavagnino will also be in attendance.
Housing affordability is vital for the homeless population, low-income residents, and for all workers in all industries that support the community.
“Housing Santa Barbara Day is an important day in our community for working families to connect with affordable housing resources that are available,” said Jerry Morales, a HACSB representative. “This annual event will give the community a chance to collaborate with the city to voice their concerns, find affordable housing and spend a day of fun with their families.”
October is National Housing America Month, a time when communities nationwide celebrate local housing efforts, and a time to raise awareness for the need for additional affordable housing through education, advocacy, and empowerment.
